Alright this might sound dumb
, but do i need an obd2 to obd1 wiring conversion harness(i.e. skunk2's) to swap an obd1 h22 into by 99 civic? At first it sounded only natural to need one, but now i'm thinking that i may not need it. Will it only help to ease the swap for me? or is it a must have?

I used my OBD2b GSR harness to put an OBD1 JDM H22A into my integra with no problems. Just had to do alot of rewiring and soldering (ie: distributor, resistor). If you dont know how then I guess it was better for you to buy the harness from Newman.

???
The prelude ecu has nothing to do with the engine harness.

Well, I guess what I dont' understand is, that if I get the h22 engine, p13 ecu, and prelude engnie harness, why do I need the conversion harness? Is it only if you are going to be using the civic harness?

Ohhhh okay. I thought you were talking about you ordered an 'engine' harness thats already wired for your H22 into a civic/integra chassis.
The 'conversion' harness is if you want to run an OBD1 ecu on a OBD2a/OBD2b car. If your ECU is OBD1 then you would need a conversion harness to hook up your ecu to your 96+ civic. The clips between the OBD1 and OBD2 are different thats why you would need a conversion harness to run the ECU, so that everything clips up.

But if I for some insane reason decided to rip out the engine harness that's already wired to my civic chassis, and replace it with the harness that comes with the h22, then I wouldn't need any kind of wiring (cutting, soldering, repinning) at all? It should all just be plug and play?
