i was gonna post this in your other thread
why do you think you need race gas? its only need for very high compression motors or motors that run HIGH boost.
i just get 92/3 or whatever is at the pump.
running racegas if you dont have to is stupid and will probably hurt performance. more octane dosent mean more power.

your compression wont be over 13:1 unless you are using some crazy domed pistons. If you plan to use CTR pistons on your ls/vtec then you will be fine with 93 or 94 octane.

If your compression is too high or you are using a lot of boost (increasing effective compression) then you must use higher octane fuel and more of it to prevent detonation.

Depends on the motor. People say that hondas can run higher compression than other motors due to the superior cooling ability of aluminum heads and their combustion chamber geometry. Also, injecting more fuel cools the mixture and prevents detonation. Most people feel that a wee bit over 11:1 is ok on high octane pump gas. The problem is when you get a little too high, you need to retard timing to prevent detonation. If you retard timing, you lose the HP you gained from uping compression. Most people seem to think that around 12:1 and race gas is in order.
Please note that I am being conservative when I give those ratios. I am also very conservative in what I chose to believe.
