Ahhh. I was just as stumped as you when i did my swap. This is actually a pump for a external transmission cooler. You can get one at PepBoys for like $30 i think, and just attach it near the radiator, and run the lines back. Or, you can do what i did and just run a short line from one tube to the other. Don't try to plug it up, because it will build up pressure. Not a good idea i would think. If you just run a short hose, it will pump out the tranny fluid, and right back in. All depends on what kind of power your making, if you should consider using an external cooler.

Really man I had no f'in clue what they were, kind of makes sense at that location. So is there any downfall o putting in the tranny fluid cooler? If not......you know how it goes the cooler the better all around.

Most manual transmissions that i've seen don't even have any coolers. If your really planning on giving the engine a lot of abuse, or if you live in a very hot area, you might want to utilize it. For a daily driver that only gets redlined once in a while, i wouldn't even bother. If you have a tranny with an LSD, i would consider hooking it up. Those generate more heat than open diffs. Really all depends on how the car will be driven.
