Default what does a leaking header affcet performance-wise?

sorry for the noobish question. Learning as I go with this swap. Just completed a b16 swap in my hatch and the header that was shipped is obviously leaking (can feel the air coming out). Hmotors is sending me out another one today. My first gear is reeeally sluggish until it gets to about 4k. I know it has very low torque but even my d-series felt a bit stronger before 4k than this does right now. After 1st gear everything feels fine.

How much of a leak are we talking about?

hmm... lol... well sitting in the car, windows rolled down, half the exhaust on, you can hear the sputtering of the air coming from the gasket area. If you put your fingers down between each of the pipe gaps, you can feel the air. We got the car up on a lift and noticed that it was bottomed-out a few times, evident of the flat surface on the pipe and the crack in the bracket (which also is making a metal rattling sound).

I'm just trying to get an idea of how much air is coming out. Does it feel like you're blowing on your fingers or something?

If it's not like a humongous gust of exhaust gases, then I don't think it would effect you performance wise. Then again, I could be wrong...I'm kinda new to the Honda scene

exhaust problems do affect performance. They suck. is it leaking by the;
1) head?
2) 4-2 union (B Pipe)
3) where the header meets the cat or the rest of the exhaust

anyway, heads and exhaust effect your motor a lot and you should get the leak fixed...

On a side not im getting ready to get my header put on should i get a flex pipe? Or is having stiff evolution motor mounts make the flex pipe pointless?
