What the diff between b20b and b20z?
I'm looking to possibly do a b20/vtec swap w/ a gsr head. i'm looking around at various sites and i can't find the difference between the z and b series. which series would work?
also, which one do i need? long block or short block? what's the diff between these?
sorry for the complete noob question but i was told you guys would know best.
thanks.

Re: What the diff between b20b and b20z? (nastynick)
If your going to do a b20 with a vtec head get the b20b. Theres a difference in HP. The b20z has like 142 hp and the b20b has only like 124. But the b20b has a lower compression for boost and is cheaper and a lot easier to find. The b20b was in the 97 to 98 crvs and b20z was in new model ones. Use the b20b short block because you don't need the transmission or head because the tranny won't fit and your going to need a vtec head anyways. Short block is just the block itself, the long block is the whole swap. I just buy the b20b block will cost you about 300. Get an integra gsr transmission. Then put on an integra type r head. Redo the pistons and stuff on the block and get some head work done. A real nice setup. My friend had it in his civic hatch. Really nice. Any question feel free to PM me.
