what are the diff. between the 92-95 B16 from the 96-00 B16?
JDM and USDM
Im looking to get one of these guys into my 97 CX hatch and I dont know if one is OBD1 or OBD2 or what would be the problems I might come up with once installed as far as emitions and so forth
I know they are both hydro tranny so that works right

Motor-wise & tranny-wise, they're the same specs, same motor, same sizes and all. Main differences are the plugs/sensors & wiring, and on the motor the cast iron mount bracket on the driver side, as well as different rear tranny bracket. Otherwise, same performance & specs.
well I already have all the mounts froma 99-00 Si so I dont need any mounts
but as far a wirring? is it OBD1 or OBD2 how hard is it to convert it to OBD2 to make it legal?

92-95 B16 is OBD I, just like any other 92-95 Honda Engine. 96+ are OBD II. The ECU connectors are different between the years. you cant plug an OBD I ECU into an OBD II car without changing the plugs or getting a conversion harness and vice versa. Some of the OBD II B16's have a Crank fluctuation sensor, the 92-95 do not. 92-95 have only 1 4 wire O2 sensor, while the OBD II have 2 (but this is also dependant upon if you are running an OBD I or OBD II catalytic convertor and which ecu, the OBD II ECU's look for the seoncd O2 and the OBD I do not). The plugs on the distributors are different, but the distributors are cross compatible, just need to put a new plastic plug on or solder the wires. I think the injectors have different plugs too, but they are the same 240cc. The IAT sensor is located in different spots on some of the B16A's and also the MAP sensor can be located in different spots too.
What do you really want to know? Can you put a 92-95 B16 into a 96+ car? Yes, you can. Will it be legal? that depends on your local laws. Most places, you cannot put an older engine in a newer car (legally). It will fit and it will work.
