Hi i need to know the engine code for the 98 japaneese type r.
Also im thinking about buying a (US) 98 type r motor but the guy said that the pistons were changed to 98 japan type-r. Is this a good thing or not.

Re: what is the code for the 98 jap type-r (CivicRacer)
I believe the engine stamp code is simply B18C for the JDM right? The USDM is B18C5. If the motor you are purchasing has JDM R pistons, it should have roughly .5 /point more compression. This can definitely be a good thing for an all motor application. If you want to go higher or lower, you can change your head gasket or use a B16 head (more chamber volume). Good luck HTH.

Yes, just B18C.
The only way to tell is to open the head, and look at the pistons and cams .....
