Default vtec wiring! Quick Question!

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO REPLIES FOR LATEST PROBLEMS

I just need to wire from the ECU to the GSR engine harnesses, right?

These 4 wires are found on the GSR engine harnesses at the shock tower, right?

A4 vtec Solenoid
A17 Secondary Intake Solenoid
D3 Knock Sensor
D6 vtec Oil Pressure Switch

Car: 93 Cx
Motor: 98 GSR (USDM)

Default To The Top!

Ok, I noticed on the GSR harness where it meets the Cx harness that the vtec solenoid wire (A4) is there Also the vtec pressure switch is there (D6) on the harness just below and to the left of the solenoid

How do I check the harness to see if the:
--Knock Sensor (D3) is there?
--IAB Solenoid (A17) is there?

Also, on a vtec diagram I have there is an A20 - EVAP Purge Solenoid. Do I have to wire this as well?

Here's the diagram:

I wired the 4 that I mentioned in the original post to the ECU harness at the kick panel as you can see in the pics

Am I done at the ECU pin outs now?

Thanks for any help!

Your cx harness wont have the pins for knock or iab sensors. Also, the evap should already be there but yes, you need it.

yeah, the VTEC wires, the IAB wire and the Knock sensor wire won't be on your CX harness. on the 94+ Teg's the IAB and knock sensor is normally wired no matter what. on the 92 Civ's the VTEC wires are there also, but not on the 93-95 ones unless they have VTEC from the factory. also on the Civ's (minus SI/B16A)there isn't a knock sensor wire run so that has to be run if being used.

I got those wired as shown in the pics

I'm going to check the A20 pin at the ECU in a minute. So, if it's there at the ECU and ran back to the harnesses then the GSR's meets with the Cx at the harnesses and I do NOT have to run that one wire correct?

Thanks for the help

A20 is there at the ECU pins!

I also took another look at the harnesses on the passengers side.

There are only 3 wire openings on the 3 CX harnesses

They are shown here:

1 & 2 both match up for both pics!

I need to figure out what wire is not on the harness (1 out of the 4) and where it needs to go....

#1 -- VTEC Solenoid
#2 -- VTEC Pressure Switch
#3 -- knock sensor

i can't remember exactly, but i believe when i ran my knock sensor wire it went through the #3 connection that is empty on your harness. i do know that the other 2 empty spots are for the VTEC control wires cause i just ran those recently from the head to the ECU.

You are right! Someone from CHB said if the wire is RED / BLUE than it's the knock sensor. Just went outside and verified it

I know where: vtec solenoid (#1), vtec oil pressure sensor (#2), knock sensor (#3)

Where on the motor or harnesses is the Secondary Intake Solenoid? Is it even wired back to the wire harnesses? There are only 3 openings on the Cx plugs as you see above. The 3 opneings are already called for. BUT, how would the GSR get the IAB (Secondary Intake Solenoid) signal back to the ECU without going through the harnesses

Thanks for all the help!

Almost got this down!

good question about the IAB wire hookup. i can't recall ever having to run the wire for the Secondary Butterflies on a Civic or Integra. i installed a GSR swap into a base model Teg a bit ago and the VTEC wires were the only ones that needed to be run, the same 2 that you need to run on your CX.

when i installed a GSR swap in my Civic awhile back, i only ran the Knock Sensor wire and that's it. it was a 92 so the VTEC wires were already there, and i guess the IAB wire is there somewhere also.

hope you get everything together so you can finish the wiring.

There is a small hole in the firewall you can use to put the wire through to the ecu. It has a rubber plug over it. Should be by the battery.

I need to find the IAB (Secondary Intake Solenoid) on the motor or at the harness.
