vtec not hitting

Default vtec not hitting

if my check engine light is on will my vtec engage? plus i dont have my evap sensor. could this be why it isnt working?

What car? What motor? What ECU?

and last of all....

What are the ECU codes?

you need to have oil press @ 55psi (or close to it)
you need to be above 15 mph
and.... damn I cant remember what the 3rd requirement is, but if you have all those, check you wiring for the VTEC selnoid. I would also fix your codes and see if your still getting a CEL.

Code 6 is the ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor. check that and make sure it's working properly.

It is located on the thermostat housing

Code 7 is the TPS. This causes you to not go into VTEC which throws you into limp mode due to the TPS having a mis-reading, is a defective plug, or bad sensor.

You most likely don't have to put on correctly. Also make sure the MAP plug and the TPS plus are not switched.

both codes will prevent vtec from working, so check both thoroughly.
