VTEC Experts -- Please read this!
I need someones help here...
I'm putting together a setup for my friend. In it's basic form it will be a CR-VTEC but this is the catch! It's going in to a CRV...lol.
Basically it has a B20B in it, it's automatic with four wheel drive. Now, he wants to keep it automatic. He wants to keep the four wheel drive to. These are my questions: what ECU do I use? What distributor do I use? Any help would be very appreciated...in advance thank you.
P.S. The head will be a 97 Type 'R' head...any more suggestions are also helpful.

You'll need an ECU from a 97-98 ITR, and thats about it. You'll have to add the wires for the Vtec solenoid, Vtec pressure switch, knock sensor (and maybe more). The only problem you might have is with the Auto tranny. I don't know if the CRV has an external tranny controller, or if it is incorporated into the ECU.
If the tranny needs the CRV ECU, then your other option is a Vtec controller like the Fields SFC-Vtec, or APEXi V-AFC. The V-AFC will allow you to tune the fuel curves somewhat for off Vtec and on Vtec. This might be an easier and cheaper solution.

I know ITRs never came in auto form. That is why I added the part about the tranny controller. If the CRV ECU controls the tranny, then he has to go the route of the APEXi/Fields. These will activate his Vtec for him, and allow some form of fuel tuning for the high Vtec lobes.

Not definite about the CRV ecu, but I believe the GSR ecu has inputs for auto.... I gotta post on that one...
