Hey i was wondering if the vin# is below the engine code on jdm motors. this guy is tryn to sell me a cheap motor but he says the motor is jdm thats why the vin# is gone below the b16a on the block. just wondering let me know. thanx

 

Hmmm...sounds kind of shady to me. I wouldn't buy it.

First of all if the tranny is not bolted to the motor it would be a good rule not to buy it.Go to Hondahybrid.org and go to spotters guide

 

JDM motors dont have a VIN. Only U.S.

 

That's one reason why JDMs don't pass visual right?? Because they don't have a VIN # to run.

i would bet money the motor is stolen
ALL honda engines have a block number there, if its not there odds are its been filed off s it couldnt be tracked.

 

The number you are talking about is the blok serial number, not the VIN.

like:

B16a2
500345

If that number is etched off it's stolen!!!

The VIN number for a JDM motor isn't on the engine anywhere, just the Blue VIN plate rivited to the front.

On USDM motors the green VIN plate is rivited to the tranny and block.

above cyl #4 (it goes from right to left) there is a number that looks like
9|1 or 9|2
thats the year
