temporarily rigging the vtec
My vtec is locked at 7200 rpm in the ecu. As a temporary means to fullfill my need to feel the power of the vtec gods I though maybe I could hook up a switch to engauge it manually. My worry is the fuel maps won't be right and I could possibly lean the engine out and *BOOM*.
Am I correct in thinking this or would the switch idea work?
Thanks.

b18c5 in 92 hatch with a hondata stage 3 (bought from sgt on here).
He told me a few months ago that when base maps are ordered he locks the vtec and overall rev limiter. Kind of defeats the purpose of spending 650 some odd dollars for something that is advertised to have that **** adjustable and it's not.
Hmmmm.... hey sgt... if you are out there.... how about sending me a new chip with 2000 b18c5 maps and all that unlocked. I can't send mine back because I need the car as it's my only one right now.

no you need to go have it TUNED
you arent supposed to just put a basemap on the chip and run with it
each car is diffrent, it needs to be tuned with hondata.
and do NOT run a switch for vtec. go do it properly. http://www.hondata.com go find the nearest shop that can tune hondata.

I understand that... but lets think this way. I was told it was loaded with a base map for my engine. So seeing that it is a stock engine the base map should be fine for temporary driving. I could see if I had all kinds of **** done to it and what not.
