stripped oil drain plug problem, help please!
ok, just got one hell of a deal, got a B16A longblock for $375 (it was taking up too much space in this guys garage, he wanted it out) just has one problem with it, the drain plug is stripped as well as the drain plug bolt, any guys ever retapped this bigger and just used a larger drain plug bolt? Or am I stuck with having to buy a new oil pan? Second question........this motor has sat in his garage for 6 months on a pallet under a tarp with no oil in it and nothing stuffed into the intake or exhaust runners........any ideas of some preventative maintance or something to look for when checking the motor over before filling her up with motor to make sure everything turns nicely? Thanks for all the help guys, you all are the best!
what you need to do the oil pan is called a 'time sert'. basically, you just drill out the threads and put in a new thread. i think honda sells the kit. but i am not sure, i just remember doing these while i worked at acura. and for your motor, you should be fine, just pour oil over the cams and fill up the motor. should have nothing to worry about.
