oil drain plug is stripped out, help please!
ok, just got one hell of a deal, got a B16A longblock for $375 (it was taking up too much space in this guys garage, he wanted it out) just has one problem with it, the drain plug is stripped as well as the drain plug bolt, any guys ever retapped this bigger and just used a larger drain plug bolt? Or am I stuck with having to buy a new oil pan? Second question........this motor has sat in his garage for 6 months on a pallet under a tarp with no oil in it and nothing stuffed into the intake or exhaust runners........any ideas of some preventative maintance or something to look for when checking the motor over before filling her up with motor to make sure everything turns nicely? Thanks for all the help guys, you all are the best!

If you tap it bigger then you have to find a bigger plug (hassle)
IMO purchase a new oil pan.
Take it apart and clean every inch. Follow reassembly instructions including the use of cam lube. and other goodies used when rebuilding engines.

use a pair of lockin pliers on the drain bolt, those things can grip anything, and give you more area to grip. I use tehm on bolts and stuff whenever i strip them. Then just go buy another plug, unless you cant even grip it with the plierx then i guess you have to get a oil pan.
