Default Which shift linkage?

I have a 98 b18c1 in my 96 civic dx coup. I am currently using the gsr shift linkage but I was told by a local shop that I should switch to the 99-00 si shift linkage. I was wondering if anyone has experience or input regarding this?
Also I if I do switch to the si linkage I was going to install a short shifter with upgraded shifter bushings. Does anyone have recomendations for short shifter brand/models and/or bushing brands?
thanks.

GSR linkage, 99 Si linkage -Type R, etc -same applications -all work fine. No reason to switch.
