Default replacing fuel pump

my 98 cx hatch has a jdm itr motor. it runs fine but people tell me to replace the fuel pump to a DOHC unit instead of a SOHC non vtec pump. will i get any power gains from doing this or will my stock fuel pump be adequate enuff. welcome to all replies. thanx for the help

an upgrade would be very nice. it will raise the fuel pressure in your rail also which allows for more power. if you are gonna do a fuel pump upgrade you might as well just go with a walbro 255 lph

It's definitely a good idea to upgrade your fuel pump to a B series VTEC pump. A Walbro or other high flow pump isn't necessary but they will work if that's what you want to buy. Using the stock pump, you are running slightly lean on the high rpm's and even more if you have your timing advanced further than stock. Just get a B Series VTEC pump (Si, GSR, ITR).

i installed a walbro 255lph unit and i basically got a whiplash when vtec hit. thanx for the replies fellas!
