Default R to Del Sol

I will be getting my theft recovered R back along with an insurance check to cover damages. However, I'm going to hybrid a Del Sol with the R's parts since keeping the R around (especially NYC) would require the security of Ft. Knox.

So far I know most of R's drivetrain, suspension and some interior parts can go into the Sol. I know I also need a shift linkage from a VTEC Sol. Would there be anything else that can go into the Sol from the R? Like the R's cat/exhaust. Or the gauge cluster?

Also can this job be done by myself with the help of a friend, engine hoist, jackstands and hand tools? I've done motorcycle engine swaps before, I suppose the process is similar?

Thanks in advance.

I know for a fact that you can make the exhaust fit. The Guage cluster would take considerable effort though. The good new's is that if you find a used Del Sol VTEC cluster you will have one of the coolest looking lusters in my opinion. With all of the drivetrain and braking equipment you will have one hell of a setup Good luck.

ya, swapping that drivetrain into the sol is easy. It bolt right in. If you drop that R motor into that little *** car, youre set for a fun *** little toy for the streets.

2350 isn't that heavy, everyone seems to think it's heavy. Take the miata, it weighs 2300 pounds. Put a miata next to a del sol sometime. The miata looks like a little toy. Plus the miata has a soft top roof, which shaves off alot of weight. So everyone quit raggin on how the del sol is so heavy

You should swap your suspension too, here's a link on the hybrid site on how to get itr 5 lugs into a 92-95 civic. Should be the same since the del sol has the same suspension
