Default question on CRVtec swap

this might trigger some flameage, but i really want to know......right now i have a '98 GSR w/ about 40K miles. would it be wise to do a b20 swap and go CRVtec? i'm thinking in terms of power, not reliability. how much if any, more hp and/or torque would come out of the swap? would this be something i should consider doing? or am i a complete idiot for even thinking about it?

Stick with the GSR. You'll be better off in the long run.

I have to disagree with AJ. With the proper prep, ie. higher compression pistons, oil squiters, proper clearences etc, the B20 block will produce more HP and torque than the B18 block. The swap has been done and is well documented. I havent done it myself though (yet) so this is just my opinion for whatever its worth to you.

It will be a lot of work though. Don't take it on untill you have done your research.

Is it worth it? You tell me...

Whats a stock GSR put down...about 145 HP to the wheels? And about 115 TQ?
Well...a B20VTEC will put down somehwhere in the area of 180-185 HP and 135-140 TQ

You already have the "hard to find parts" (GSR head, tranny and ECU)
Basically all you need is a B20 short block and some aftermarket pistons and rods..for roughly $2000 (not including labor) you cna get a reliable 40 HP to the wheels... sounds like a good idea if you ask me.

UHH the panda has a suggestion..
TURBO the damn B18C engine.. you'll be making way more power and yes you'll get torque.. torque is nice..*pets torque* =x
BUT THE crvtec isn't a bad idea.. but why not use the strong engine u already have....that's my 2 peso's
