Default Question about motor swaps...

What restricts what motors you can put in various cars? Like on HMO motors online I see that every complete swap has a car name and generation by it... Is that just telling you what car this motor came stock in, or is it telling you what the swap goes in....

I am looking at a two door 90 accord I can turn into a sleeper and I want to put a B16A2 or B16A3 in it. Possible? please help out fellas...

Also: what swaps are available for the generation accord before that? (??-'89)?

Any help is greatly appreciated. THanks.

on hmotorsonline the car labeled beside the engine is the car it came with. and Ive mostly heard the h22a being swapped in the accord, not the b16. but Im sure you can do it.

I've seen b16's swapped into pre-'90 accord LXi, but a b16a would be a down grade for a '90 accord, due to the lack of torque.

An h22a is a direct bolt in for the '90 accord. You can even use your stock accord tranny, axles, and shift linkage. Which means all you would have to get is the h22 motor and ecu.

Aright cool... I was looking into the B16A for the high upgradability and for the CHP 2.0L stroker kit...

lol b16 + 2.0 stroker kit = alot more cash and still less displacement than h22

But isn't the don't they (aftermarket parts manufacturs) make far more parts for the B16 than an H22?

Well yeah, but the H22 will be better to begin with in that accord. The accord is too big for the lil b16 lol. And youll save money if you only have to buy the engine and ecu, versus the complete swap if you went b16. Cant go wrong with the 2.2
