I'm planning on building an ls/vtec for my '00si and I know I will definitely need an LSD. Since the cheapest I can find a Quaiffe is around $800 shipped, do you think I could get one of the LSD's that came in the Jap. B16's? I figured since places like importautosalvage and hondamotorsonline say they can get you a b16 with factory LSD for an extra $300, couldn't they just sell me one for a few hundred bucks? Thanks.

 

They will most likely want to sell you the whole tranny for around $600, not just pull the LSD out of a tranny. For that much it would be worth buying the new Quaife and then getting the carrier bearings you need which will run about $45 roughly for each and you'll need two.

Thanks for the help. I think I'm still gonna call one of those companies and see how much they want. I think the Quaiffe would be awesome, but I just don't have enough $.

new they are still around $450 plus the little extras you'll need. I'd say you'd end up around $550 for everything would be my guess. Install costs on either diff will also add which we've forgotten unless you can do it yourself!

 

Holy crap! Can you really get an R LSD for under $600?

 

Might as well put a JDM or ATS final drive in there while its torn apart.
