Default problems with b16 in eg

hey guys

i swapped b16 out of an sir into my eg, and the motor runs really strong and gets great gas mileage. the only problem im having is that the engine feels like it hits a rev limit at 7k. it pulls strong but when it gets to 7k it falls flat on its face.

i don't know what to do about it, the ignition system is functioning properly, new plugs, wires rotor and cap. i replaced the fuel pump before the swap, its an autozone pump for a civic si. when it cuts off it kind of feels like a fuel problem, but i don't know. the car has fuel pressure at idle.

vtec engages fine, and the car runs great. I've got a b16 with the trans that came out of the sir, and the p30 ecu from the sir also.

i don't know if anyone has ever run into this before, i don't know what's going on here. i'm running out of ideas.

thanks guys

i was told that my tach could be off, but i think it's kind of unlikely that it would be off by 1k at 7.

i let you know if i find out anything. this is really pissing me off, and i need to take this thing to the track before it gets too cold.

i don't think the tach is off by that much, because vtec still comes on around 5300, which im pretty sure is when it is supposed to

i believe that's a vtec solenoid and knock sensor, not sure though.

im assuming you had to wire at least the knock sensor, and possibly the vtec solenoid. check to make sure those circuits are continuous.

i'm starting to think we both may have ecu problems.

Could have been an intermittant problem, reset ECU and see if CEL comes on again and still indicated both codes. If your ECUs were auto you would throw some codes (19, 30, 31 maybe others can't remember) for the auto BS. But just to confirm check this link

That would work, or remove the Back-Up fuse in the under-hood fuse box. This will wipe the ECUs ROM of any stored codes. If the CEL doesn't come on shortly after starting the car most likely it was an intermittant problem.
