Default problem with LS/VTEC hehe..

well the only problem i have is gettin it built..

heres wat i have:
ctr pistons
new gaskets
new timing belt
water and oil pumps from 2000 SI
misc things (spark plugs/wires)
ls/vtec oil line
eagle rods

all id need to do is:
machine the block... bore, hone, fit pistons-press pins to rods-balance
get the rod bearings i need
...then build

anyone in Dallas area want to help my build? wats ur charge..etc.

and no i dont want to go to a performance shop.. more than likely they'll rip me off with labor so on..

i could get the machine shop work done.. along with getting the rod bearings.. so basically i need someone whos willing to piece it together

i have a source who lets me kno wat i NEED.. and hes having trouble gettin someone to build it for me

right now i have a gsr engine.. only prob is in the block but rebuildable if u wanted to keep that as a project hehe + cash ofcourse <-- wat i can offer hehe
thats another reason i wouldnt go to a shop.. im sure they are not interested in a trade lyk that.. and some can be scandalous

anyways let me kno..
thx

Did you get over sized CTR pistons?

Don't shot-peen your rods! Iv reasearched the **** out of it, its not worth it, mor then likly you will just mess them up. Just get ARP rod bolts and call it good. Other then the bolt, the ls rod is very good.

Order a helms manual, it will explain all about which bearings you need and so forth.

well the pistons wouldnt actually make a good fit into the motor so the block has to be bored

as far as the rods.. someone told me the eagle rods would not fit without modification in the machine shop to my CTR pistons

so thats y i should just go ahead and shotpeen the rods

Th eagle rods are designed for a floating pin piston. the CTR pistons have a solid(?) pin which must be presed into the rod.

I don't know the prices for your area,

I was quoted:
$90 for a bore, hone, and fitment of the pistons
$25 to have piston pins pressed onto rods
$125 to balence complet rotaiting mass (crand, pistons, rods, pully, flywheel, ect...)

just a quick question.. Wont putting a piston from a short stroke motor into a longer stroke motor like an LS make the compression ratio really really high??? Im guessing that the compression is gonna be somewhere in the 12:1 or higher....

That is correct. The CTR piston yelds just over 12.1:1 compression. I see nothing wrong with that as long as you run supreme.

I'm not flaming, but you MUST get a helms manual. It will explain which bearings you need. None of us here can help you there; we need the numbers/letters off your block and crank. Also, you need the manual for the torques specs. I paid 64 eached (I bought an integra and civic/del sol one) shipped for mine. My ls/vtec was the first autowork I've done. It's easy, just get the helms, tools, and lots of patience.

The price for the bore and hone is a bit high. I paid 40 for mine. I would get a b18c or c5 oil pump. You didn't have vtec head studs or bolts. For studs, get the ones for the gsr.

There are plenty of writeup out there. Type C has a very complete on the hybrid board. C-speedracing also has good writeups. Between the net and the helms, you should have all the info you need.

Good luck!
Good luck.
