Default poormans ITR??

I currently have a blown b16 short block just chilling in my garage. the head is in perfect condition. If i got a b18c short block, is it a hard job to put on the head? or is it just bolted in? any additional modifcations needed? also, do yo guys know any website relating to this? thanks

Just bolt it on and go. It's a no-brainer.

You better use the GSR head bolts because they are longer. You definitely don't want the head to lift off.

Is this setup better than just a straight GSR setup. If so, what makes it better...is there more torque, hp, etc.?

There is controversy over which is better.

Traditionally, in my opinion, the B16 head is better because you can simply bolt on any R parts, including the intake manifold. With the recent addition of Skunk2 manifolds that pattern the typeR manifold, a GSR head can be modified to single intake plenum style manifold for similar price. I chose a '99 B16a for my 1.8 project because they are easier to find and offer the same quality as the GSR head.

the b16 head has less compression because the compustion chamber is round unlike the gs-r which is square. but the b16 flows much better. so the b16 i think has more potental. you sacrafice compression for better flow.

if you rebuilding a new block you might as well stick some ctr pistons in the gs-r block and get the cr up.. just a thought if the engine is gonna be in pieces anyways..

just get yourself a helms manual....it does help alot....if you can't afford one at least a haynes or chilton will do for most parts...

Plus, what do you mean by blown block? You might have also damaged the mating surface on bottom of the head. It could be an opportunity to have the head lightly milled so it sits flat. Plus port and polish or whatever else you might want to do.....Check out Tom Fujita in the last Super Street or else at http://www.portflow.com

Installation wise, if you took the b16 head off the old block, you can put it on the GSR block... Helm is nice to have.

so the head and block just bolts on? No catch. ahah i have a B16 obd1 head with GSR timing belt and water pump witha p28 with ITR basemap. i was going to do a crvtec but then i saw the gas prices. Also this sounds easier to do and less time. so thanks for ur post. and yes i search for a hour already.
