Default Pics of InfamousRS's B20Vtec install....:)

This is InfamousRS at InfamousRRH's house (I coundn't get his named loged out of his computer)...Well We got my motor in today, here are some pics.

We started dropping the motor in at about 2:00 and finished at about 6:00...Everything went really smooth except Mike (InfamousRRH) mixed up the plug wires on the distributer so it didn't start (scared me for a minut), then we relized it and it stated right up!!! It runs STRONG!!!! Its SOOO much faster now than when I had my LS/Vtec motor!!!!!

Well, enjoy the pics!!!

Im using a P28 with a Spoon chip (My PYR chip will be back in my ECU tomorrow). with my LS/Vtec the PYR chip pulled alot harder and Vtec kicked in ALOT harder too!!! Im hoping it will do the same for my B20

Im just running stock LS injectors.

No, I didn't instal rods and pistons. Its a 100% stock JDM B20B Block (except for the GSR oil pump). I was going to hold off on this motor till I could get rods and pistons, but I was without my car since I put my old engine im my girlfrinds car. I have been driving my moms car for ever now and missed my teg so I decided to put the motor in with a stock bottom end.

wicked!!! a "stock" B20VTEC

did you clay the valve clearances? is the head milled? is it an LS or B16A manifold?

what fuel pressure are you running?

(sorry - only two weeks till mine goes in, many questions )

What compression are you at? I can guarantee you that running LS injectors in your set-up will be inadequate

Well Im running stock pistons....with my head I *think* it should be around 10.6:1...i wasn't aware that the B20 injectors were any bigger than the rest of the B series injectors...I thought they were all 240 CC injectors?

yep, injectors are all 240cc.

the increased demands of the extra capacity VTEC usually means that fuel pressue should be bumped up to about 50psi on stock compression (or so i have heard..)

Well, Im not sure all of the spacifics of the PYR chip...I got it from http://www.hyperducktuning.com . I got 2 chips (spoon, and PYR) for $40. With my LS/Vtec I origanaly had the Mugen program. I liked the program alot except for the Vtec crossover (5700 RPM), it was to high for my GSR tranny cause no matter what I would fall out of Vtec shifting from 1st to 2nd. I got the PYR chip cause hyperducktuning told me the map are very similar to the Mugen chip only Vtec is at 5200 (if I recall) with helped me out alot in staying in vtec.

I don't have a VAFC or anything, but Im sure that and some dyno time would really help my motor!!! Im actually thinking about Hondata(I may wait off till I build the motor first).

The DC JDM ITR... for the rest of the exhaust its a test pipe and 5zigen fireball catback. It is really DEEP sounding, I LIKE IT!!!!

Hey InfamousRRH...

Which head gasket did you end up using for the B20/VTEC? Just curious since you were using the Cometic and it wasn't working well before.

Just curious.

Looks good though good luck with it.

InfamousRRH is using a Cometic 86mm head gasket for his sleeved 86mm block...Im useing a stock b20 head gasket.

Hey, thanks for all the complements guys!!!! Its still running really well, I just drove across the state (oregon) to see my girlfrined, it went just fine the whole 170 miles except the dip stick poped out and got some oil on my pretty motor.

I don't know what to do about that dip stick!!! I had to cut the b20 one down 5 1/4" to fit under my hood, now it won't seal and pops off.....For now, just to keep it down I put a hose clamp on it tight so it is impossible to come up....makes it kinda hard to check my oil though.

I knew he had the 86mm Cometic but was wondering if his actually sealed or not.

I have the Cometic 85mm and it seems that the 85mm gasket is a VTEC gasket. I was just wondering if his 86mm was was the same setup and if it was working or not.

That's all.

Im not sure as to if its a Vtec gasket or not....Hes using a LS heas so Im sure its just a large bore copy of the LS....We arnt sure if it sealed or not..the motors not in his car yet cause we ran into some problems with the rod bolts, and some other stuff. Were waiting for parts now.

That is the problem now I know.....How do I fix this? I don't have a catch can yet...Im buying one on payday. I have the PCV valve hooked up, and I just put a new PCV valve in about 10 minuets ago, but it didn't fix it. I have it hooked up between the valve cover and intake manifold. Why isin't it working?

here is a recent post on hte subject, there were heaps more posts on "catch can" and "PCV"...

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=290534

the PCV line draws air from the intake pipe, through hte rocker cover/crankcase and out through hte PCV valve into the intake manifold.

how exactly is yours set-up?

right now the PCV valve is inline between the valve cover and intake manifold.
