P28 and P72...is there a difference?
I'm currently running a "chipped" P28 ECU (it was done half-*** to say the least)...it's chipped for no knock sensor and no rev limiter, but my main problem with this ECU is that I can't scan it for codes and data streams (everytime I plug in it freezes the scanner).
I've been looking around since I'm new to this whole "chipping" thing and I know that my P28 is used in SOHC VTEC Civics, but is there really a difference between the P28 from SOHC VTEC Civics and the P72 used in GS-R's?

are you talking OBD1 or OBD2? (there are P28s and P72s in both)
JDM OBD2 ECUs are not scanable by the conventional OBD2 scan tool.
OBD2 ECUs are also more rare to chip, so I have a feeling you're talking OBD1.
OBD1 ECUs are easily chipped, but scan tools for them are more rare and the standard OBD2 versions do not work.
Once chipped you are running code from what ever program you are running, if I remember correctly most of the programs out there run off a JDM base, so no communication protocols.
Datalogging is your best bet there.
