Re: P28 on B18c1?? (hybridreams)
well it does disable the 2ndarys into a single runner system, & knock sensor
obd-1 p28 and p72 so keep the p72 and reprogram it, same job is done to the p28

You gotta do some soddering and stuff. If you don't know how to do it, I suggest not ruining a perfectly good ecu. Just spend the $100-150 and get it done by someone who knows what's up.

Re: P28 on B18c1?? (captainJDM)
i dont see the point of reprogramming the p72 if your going to use the stock GS-R im, or so i think...is there like an activation switch for them? someone fill me in on what happens to the 2ndarys if you chip both the p72 or p28? are they left open? and are ment for use with a single runner IM?
as for the 2ndarys, leaving em open KILLS your low end trq, trust me, rolling around like that (before i installed the IAB system, just woke up one day and wasnt lazy) suck0red bad

Nothing happens to the secondaries on that P72. They will open and close as normal. The P28; however, doesn't have anything to control the secondary butterfly in the first place (which is why it always stays open *not good). So chipping is not what eliminates the secondaries.

Re: P28 on B18c1?? (Jdmb18c)
correct me if im wrong
now i currently have 2 ecus, one is a p28 being re progged with the mugen program, thus no 2ndarys and ideal for a single runner IM on the b18c
now if i had chipped the p72 with the mugen program i would still be using the 2ndarys correct? or does this program eliminate the use of the 2ndarys regardless?

Re: P28 on B18c1?? (HKxBlur)
Am I missing something here??? You've got a b18C1, and a P72 ecu... and you're running the stock intake manifild...
So why are you talking about switching ecu's or chipping anything? Just run what you've got. People are running chipped P28's because (for the most part) they didn't have the P72 to start with and a chipped P28 is cheaper than a P72.
Also, unless you're switching to an aftermarket intake manifold, you do NOT want to disable the secondary runner control.

EDIT: That is VERY true. You DO NOT want to eliminate the secondary controls on an ECU using a dual butterfly intake manifold.

Re: P28 on B18c1?? (Jdmb18c)
Since you already have the setup, I suggest you take it to Skunk2 and bring up the redline/vtec crossover. Or jdmhondaparts.com; their FF.Special.1 is the same ****. No need to get the P28, stick with your P72 and get it chipped.
