obd2 obd1
so in plugs on the motor are the same for both of these? the only difference is the plug inside the car? Im not sure if im understanding this correctly. but i can drop in an obb2 motor and if i use an obd1 ecu i just have to run a few extra wires? Its going to be a 98 b18c1 into a 92 cx. thanks

I have a 92 VX hatch and I put a 99 B18C1 in it, which isn't really much different from using a 94-95 OBDI motor. I have a 95 P72 (GSR) ecu running things so it plugs up under the dash without a conversion harness. The best thing to start off with would be a rechipped 92-95 P28 ecu or a 94-95 P72 ecu.
If you get the OBDII engine harness from the motor, it will plug into your main harness under the hood. Then there won't be any rewiring other than the VTEC, knock, secondary butterflies, etc. that you would pretty much need to do for any VTEC motor you put in.
If you use your stock motor harness, then you will need to rewire the distributor and injectors with OBDII plugs, or some people use the OBDI parts instead so no wiring has to be done. Of course you could always buy a conversion harness to run the OBDII ecu as well, but that wouldn't be a very good idea
