obd1 issue (wiring)
HEY NEED SOME HELP I HAVE A HONDA CIVIC EG6 95 OBD1 SETUP. GOT THIS ENGINE TYPE-R B18C ITS OBD2A. INSTEAD OF GETTING THE ADAPTTER OBD1 TO OBD2A. WANTED TO IF I CAN JUST REMOVE THE HARNESS FROM THE END TO THE ECU PLUG TO THE ENGINE BAY FROM AN 1997 HONDA CIVIC D16Y8 ITS VTEC I HERE. AND REMOVE THE OBD1 ONE. WILL IT FIT, WILL EVERYTHING CONEENCT PLEASE RESPONED THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT IS KEEPING ME FROM STARTING THE CAR THANKS.

No. You need to use your stock single slam harness. Add the Vtec and knock wiring and go from there. That is the easiest way. The OBD-2a harness isn't going to work correctly in an EG chassis.

Hey, I'm doing pretty much the same swap right now too, if it's the JDM engine you can't use the wiring harness it came with, but hold on to it you may need to use some of the plugs. The best thing you can do is get an engine harness off of a 94-00 GSR, make sure it a GSR harness though or you might end up in my situation. Once you have that harness all you will have to do is plug it in and fix the Vtec problem (if it's JDM you have to wire the vtec differently, theres a ton of articles on it and it's an easy fix), but the GSR harness will fit and even though it's obd2 on the engine side (nice for ITR b18C), it has the obd1 shock tower plugs
for an EG.

obd2 harness will however have the following things that will require work....
crank position sensor plug which is unused in obd1
purge control solenoid valve plug will be wrong style and in the wrong location
injector plugs will be wrong style
distributor plug will be the wrong style
Just keep these things in mind. The most plug and play would be a 94-95 gsr harness. That is if you dont like wiring. You will still need to wire the iabs, vtec, and knock to the shock tower however.

everything you just said was completely wrong.
first of all it is an obd2 motor so the obd2 gsr harness will work perfect. every plug will be fine. the only change will be to the IAB since OBD1 and OBD2 send different signal for IAB (one grounds it, one sends 12 volts).
if he tried to run a 94-95 GSR harness, then he would have to change the dizzy/alternator/injector plugs. in both cases, vtec and knock are already there.

My bad. I assumed it was an obd-1 engine and didn't re-read the original post. Again, I appologize.
I will say I have never heard of a difference in how the IABS are controlled between the two systems. How else would you be able to use an OBD-2 -> OBD-1 conversion harness and an OBD-1 P72 without problems?

HEY IS IT TRUE THAT U CANT USE THE JDM WIRING HARNESS IT CAME WITH WHY IS THAT. IF ITS THE CAUSE OFF REACH I FOUND A WAY FOR IT TO REACH.BESIDIES FOR NOW I WANT TO USE THE OBD2 ECU NOT OBD1 BECAUSE IM STILL RUNNING ALL STOCK. THANKS REPLY
have fun getting the obd2 ecu to work. i don't know what all is involved in that but it is not plug and play. you will need a conversion harness and you will need to wire in a second o2 sensor and i think there are a few other things too.
and the IAB thing is a fact. JDM obd1 and USDM obd2 the ecu sends a positive signal (meaning the black wire needs to be grounded). USDM obd1 ecu sends a ground signal so the black wire needs to be on a 12V switched.
AND STOP POSTING IN ALL CAPS.

ok so if i get the si/ex wirring harness all i need is the knock sensor. have the converssion harness already obd1 to ob2da. so thats all for the wiring
