i am in the process of collecting all of the materials for the 0bd0 to obd1 conv. and i was wondering why you have to change the dizzy, doesnt it just read the voltage through the ecu.
have search could find anything
thanks in advance

it's a pain in the butt......not really just seemed that way to me...... all you need is a multipoint car.....obd1 computer, obd1 or obd2 distributor and a wiring conversion harness. Add you 4 o2 wires, you have vtec sol., vtec press sender, IAB's ( only on gsr), and knock sensor if applicable. Remove resistor box ( or use obd0 injectors). done deal.. If you are converting a dual point car, make sure you get the dual point harness or convert completely to mult point before swap occurs.
you need obd1 or 2 distributor because the number of teeth on gear inside dizzy is different from an obd0. and the legs on the dizzy are different and some won't bolt up.
I put a d16y8 (obd2) 1998 civic ex motor in my 90 dx hatch....i used obd2 dizzy because it all bolts up fine to the head......
If I would have used a 0bd1 (d16z6) dizzy all the bolt holes wouldn't have lined up properly.
understand that you should use the respected dizzy with respected motor
unless you are converting an obd0 motor to obd1 then your on you own
(or just run a obd0 crome program w/one wire vtec function) and stay obd0
