Default Newbie needs some help/advice.

Hey, sorry to annoy those who probably frequent this board, but I am on my way to buy my first import. I've been reading this board for the past couple of weeks trying to gather some basic knowledge.

I found a good deal on a high mileage 00 Honda Civic EX. Now I need some advice as far as an engine swap goes. I'm interested in getting another motor for it but my budget is slightly limited right now. I'll be working with about 2500-3000 after buying the vehicle. I can do the labor myself as I have mechanical experience but only on Chevys and Fords, so it shouldn't be factored into the cost.

Im looking for something a little easier to swap in until I familiarize myself with the Honda. I'd like to get a large power gain right off the bat with a new motor, but I also want plenty of room for future upgrades. One of my main plans for the future is a turbo kit, as I can get them rather cheaply through an old employer and my cousin works at a stainless exhaust forming shop so none of that would be an issue.

Sorry to drone on and on, but I've noticed that alot of the people on here can be extremely helpful, so have some leanience on a newcomer and please offer your best advice.

Thanks in advance.

For a limited income, go with a B series motor. Look around for different prices. If that is still too much, look at a ZC motor. The ZC is basically the same, just without Vtec. Those are your low cost options, good luck.

For a somewhat low cost and because you are considering a turbo, I would suggest a B18B Integra LS swap. Most newer low mileage swaps run about $2,000, the $ you have left over can go toward the turbo. Do some searches about the various swaps and what not, a lot of which will be back and forth debates as to which motor is better, blah blah. It'll either help or hinder

Engine swap not that hard at all...Did my first this year mostly by myself besides the advice I had found doing some research here on Honda Tech and JDMCIVIC...C-SPEED had that good write up, also Hybrid Garage too and I can say everything actually went smoothly no probs whatsoever...First crank, voila...Good to go except something somewhat minor but I figured that one out...I got myself a GSR and im loving it...Def. not slow but not the fastest...Quick...Since you got a coupe why not just a straight B20?? You will benefit from the torque...
