Need Some Smog Help
I am looking at this guys hatchback and he gave me a list of what hes got done to it. I would just like to know why it wont pass smog exactly(kinda stupid question). Here whats done LS VTEC motor consisting of a B16a head with portflow ports, valvetrain, type r cams, red skunk 2 cam gears, arp head studs, type r manifold, 1999 B16a tranny with clutch specialties six-puck clutch, ligthen fly wheel, LS block built by JakesRacingEngines with CivicTypeR pistons, STR fuel rail, B&M fuel regulator and marshell guage. Its running on 91 octaine on 7gallons and 1.9 gallons of 118.
Forgot to mention that i think he doesn't have an o2 censor in place and some wires aren't in place. Also has a chipped ecu if that makes a difference.

for lsvtec forget. if a smog ref sees the oil line in the back and he knows it's not a stock part. it's going to fail plain and simple. also by looking at a ls block he'll know vtec doesn't come with ls engine anyway. I haven't met anyone who has passed smog legally with a lsvtec. the only route would be the illegal route.

or just make it a track car.

Re: Need Some Smog Help (sivik2nr)
I could have sworn ive seen a website with a smog legal LS-VTEC Del Sol. If you have the patience and you really want to make this thing pass, just temporarily get a b18 non vtec head. Get your carb sticker for a b18 with your vehicles vin #. Then put the vtec head back on. The guys at the test only stations will see youve got a sticker and pass you unless you fail the sniffer. I plan on paying the ref a visit this summer too. good luck
