Default Need help with ECU question?

I just got done putting a GSR motor in my 95 hatch, pretty easy. I used the GSR engine harness and used my OBD I ECU(stock 95 Si ECU) Then has a local shop putt he mugen software in it. Is that the correct way to go? It seems like VTEC isn't working to full capablility. Sometimes it wont even kick in. The car can be running for an hour so it is plenty warmed up and no VTEC, but when it does kick in, it barely gets louder, I have an RSR header, Intake, and Apexi N1 exhaust. Shouldn't you be able to hear VTEC scream? So, now for the question...Is that the was I should go with the ECU? Does that make it work or should I have gotten an OBD I GSR ECU? WHich one would be better? My car does rev to low 9G's but thats about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yeah.. from what i know, the vtec should be pretty loud... i would think its all tied in to that ecu.. i would find a gsr ecu, and go with that.. prolly wont need to chip a gsr one either...

well, you should be using a GSR P72 ecu since its designed to work with your specific (GSR) engine. The P72 ecu has the capability to control the secondary butterflies that are inside of your intake manifold, which help the low-end powerband. A P28 ecu, stock or reprogrammed, cannot control those butterflies, so you'll be missing out on some low-end torque. If you plan to upgrade to a Skunk2 I/M then, the a reprogrammed P28 is a perfect candidate since the Skunk2 I/M doesn't use 2ndary butterflies at all.

Now as far as hearing VTEC it depends on how hard you are on the throttle and where VTEC is set in your RPM's. Usually the higher the vtec crossover point, the better you'll hear it, especially if you have a loud exhaust system. Around 5500-5700rpm is a normal VTEC crossover point for most B-series engines.

Are you gettiing any check engine lights at all ? if not, your engine is probably running fine.

No Check Engine lights, If I am on it full throttle, I still can barley hear VTEC. I am going to go with a Stock GSR ECU I think, this blows!!
