Default Need Help... code 23

recently put a b18c1 in my 90teg. using pr3 ecu

getting code 23... i know thats knock sensor.

i have v-afc hooked up and somewhat vtec is engaging but does'nt feel the way its suppost to"weak". Is the knock sensor causing this weak VTEC.

all help is greatly appreciated.

There is no such thing as a "weak" VTEC crossover. Either it works, or it doesn't. You CAN tell the difference, especially with a B18c1. What you're "hearing" is probably the IAB (secondary intake runners) opening up...and not the bigger VTEC lobes itself.

Get a new knock sensor and diagnose it from there.

well i feel some sort of a pull after 5000rpm.

i have skunk2 IM. is it possible that its just the VAFC thats sending the vtec signal but the ECU is not activating it because of the knock sensor.

you should set vtec to kick on around 5500-5700rpm.
The 'weakness' or lag in power you speak of is more than likely the dip in the powerband once vtec kicks on, if you have it kickin on too early (under 5500rpm). Try upping the vtec x--over point and it should clear that lag up, somewhat. And yes, if you're running a stock DOHC VTEC ecu w/the KS unplugged/not wired up will in a sense, kill power, moreover, makes your engine feel like it hesitates. Either wire up the KS or have the ecu reprogrammed w/a disabled KS program. I suggest you just wire it up though, if you're engine is mostly stock.

engine has pr3 pistons,Skunk2 IM, p&p, ITR camshafts. AEM Cam gears, DC 4-1 headers.

So you think the Knock sensor is leading to power loss?

if your DOHC VTEC ecu is totally stock.....yes...the KS is prolly hampering performance some. I suggest you you have your ecu reprogrammed with those engine upgrades you've done, especially the SK2 manifold & ITR cams...

the VAFC doesn't disable sensors.....but you can enhance fuel and the vtec crossover point with your VAFC.
