you need to get the h22 belt.. the h22 head is alot taller than the h23.. and i suggest you invest in the auto tensioner... the h23 has springs to tighten the belt but the auto tensioner is much better.. plus.. i have to ask.. did you change the crank gear and the water pump from the h23 to the h22? that is needed and on the top of the block before you put the head on.. there is a plug on the block that is in the middle of the piston 2 and 3.. you need to pull that out.. if you need anymore info.. let me know.. i have the 2.3vtec and loving it

people swap the jdm h22a from an auto tensioner to a manual tensioner, but when you do an h23/vtec swap you swap to an auto tensioner....why.....

when you adjust the manual tensioner, it stays, but the auto tensioner works with a spring, which is known to be weak and unreliable at best.....i still don't understand why unless you're calling the manual tensioner (like what the f22's have) an auto tensioner (like what h22a's come with)

naw.. the auto tensioner i took off a 2000 prelude, its springy like.. but Hydraulic, when adjusting.. you have to make sure that its had fluid in it and make sure to not spill any.. it has a gasket n such,

i never thought about the h23 tensioner, i still have it and if i happen to have a problem i guess ill switch it back,

use of aftermarket parts is up to you.. just it has to be for a h22 so if you find a aftermarket waterpump.. its gotta be a h22 water pump and so on..

basically the only thing you keeping is the h23 crank, rods and pistons... everything else is to be h22 parts
