Default help with an H23 to a vtec conversion

I was told that i could put a h22 vtec head on my H23 block and it was just a simple swap. I have ran into a few problems. one is that my head bolts off the 23 arent long enough, i need the h22 bolts but cant find them. but my main question is that if the vtec head is bigger than the h23, i am going to need the h22 timing belt, ok no problem, but my question is do i have to switch over to the automatic tentioner and set up for this belt or will my tentioner set up on my h23 block work? is all i have to do is buy a h22vtec belt? any info about this swap would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Go and do a search on h23vtec and a ton of stuff will come up including a how to thread. I my self am doing this and I think you got yourself into something more than what you expected. You need almost everyhting form the h22 to do it.

Yup, you got in way over your head.

You really need a complete H22 swap and use the crank and manual tensioner from the H23.

You need to do a search.

Good luck.

Everything from PS bracket to Coolant pipe in the back, to tensioners, waterpump, belt, gaskets, everything. Lots of little parts. Don't forget exhaust mani is different, same with the intake mani. Lots of posts on this forum and how to's. Keep searching. look under archived also.

Good luck. - Don't forget about oil control orifice also. it's all written in the forum.

Hey man, don't use the H22 auto tensioner. Keep the H23 manual tensioner.

There you go.

Good luck.
