My mini me has problems...please help!!!
First off, I have a 96 civic hatchback cx. I am using the D16y8 head, y8 intake manifold. I am going to use the y8 throttle body, but can't now because my harness isn't here yet for my p28 ecu. Y8 injectors are on the way along w/ the fuel rail.
I got my mini me on today, and all back together. I went to fire her up, and she started fine, no problem. However it started reving at 2200 rpm or so. Then it started to drop to 1000 rpm. I was thinking sweet.
Next, she raised up to 2300 rpm, back to 1000 rpm, up to 2300, etc. Also, it was shooting mad white smoke out the exhaust, leading me to think I had a bad head or head gasket was fucked up. Being coolant and all.
Well, we checked compression, and it's all at 180+.
The car is barely smoking now, but the idle is still fucked up. I can take it to 2500 rpm and hold it there, and the motor sounds great!! We changed some hoses around, and now there is barely any white smoke comming out.
I'm thinking perhaps we had a coolant line going to a vacume line, and vice versa. But not 100% sure.
I'm currently using the y8 head, and intake manifold. Using my y7 dizzy, and y7 throttle body. Using that because I did not yet have my obd2a to obd1 harness for the p28 ecu, and I was affraid not having the orange wire on the IACV would **** it up and give me a code.
I'm not throwing any codes what so ever, non at all.
But any help on this idleing problem, and perhaps the white smoke will be great. I'm also in need of a d16y7 and d16y8 vacume diagram. If you got one, please post it up.
Any help is more then appreciated, and also, feel free to ask any questions for some information I might have let out that you might need to help w/ a responce.
Thanks alot!!!
Jeremy

I'm using the y7 IACV right now. My harness for my p28 didn't come yet, and I didn't know if it would throw a code not showing the orange wire or not for the y7 IACV.
One thing, the y7 IACV is rotery. I wonder if that's a problem??
I checked the "EACV". I think that's the term for the big canister by the battery. There is no antifreeze in it.
I adjusted the idleing, nothing helped there. I even went and switched the 2 plugs on the TB around. No codes were thrown, but it idled at normal pace then, just a bit rough. Also seemed to shoot gas out the exhaust, but the damn thing had NO power on revs. So it's back to irratic idleing.

Well, I got the problem fixed. The car is no idleing fine.
The problem was, the y7 and the y8 TBs are differnt gasket wise. I threw the other gasket on, and it ran fine.
There was no white smoke. I changed my fuel rail and injectors to the y8 as well today. The car ran fine and no smoke again.
I let it run for a while, a good 20 mins at idle, no smoke, nothing.
I took the plugs out, and the plugs are BLACK!!
I put the new NGK's in that are for a 2000 civic HX. Since it's a colder plug I thought it would be a good idea. I took the car out the road, and back. Didn't rev past 3000 rpms. I noticed on the way back of the 1 mile trip, it's blowing white smoke out AGAIN!!
WTF?
Atleast the idle is fixed, and the car seems to run strong. Just this ******* white smoke again after changing the plugs. Also, why would my plugs be black???
Thanks
PS, I'm also still running my y7 throttle body and IACV. Still the stock ECU, didn't put the p28 in yet.

I heard the black was probably the gas I ran through it, turning the key, on and off and on and off...etc.
I did hear from most people to get stock plugs, so I"ll get get a set when everthing is running legit.
So your thinking the smoke is coming from the colder plugs?
