Micro Polish Crank?

Micro Polish Crank?
I am in the process of rebuilding a motor that I got from a neighbor. It blew a rod through the block. I have a bare block and I planned on using the crank from the blown motor. I just got the crank out tonight and what do ya know, It looks like trash. I was wondering if a micro polish job will fix this issue. I have not had a chance to measure it with a micrometer but I will tomorrow. Let me know your thoughts on this issue. Thank you

Re: Micro Polish Crank?
I agree with both of you. After checking the runout of this crank, it is at the maximum tolerance for recommended use. It is not worth the headache to repair. The crank is trash and it is going to become wall art. Thanks for your recommendations.

Re: Micro Polish Crank?
just to add to the conversation......
even if that crank somehow managed to stay within tolerance it still would not be any good. you can see how hot the crank had become at one point. once metal reaches the point of discoloration the temper changes and it will either become to soft or to brittle for use.

Re: Micro Polish Crank?
Adam,
I agree, I already have a replacement for this. I mic'ed out this damaged crank as well as hardness testing and everything cameback within working condition; however, I am not willing to use it. It is now wall art, as previously mentioned.
By the way- your sig is awesome!!!!
