LS/VTEC vs. B18C for 90 Integra
Hey, Im new to this forum and if this topic has been brought up already Im sorry.
I have a 1990 Integra and have been looking for information on the pros and cons for either an LS/VTEC swap or a B18C (GSR) swap!
I live in Calgary and over here there are LS/VTEC setup's fully done ready to go for around $3500 and the B18C with tranny, ECU etc. for $4000.
I plan on adding a turbo in the future (approx. 1 year) and adding I/H/E and other basics on ASAP.
You guys seem to talk about different pistions, cams and hondata etc. alot and Im not that "smart" when it comes to the engine part of imports so basically I was wondering what would you guys recommend for my car and what other upgrades would have to be done in order to turbo, or would I just be able to swap in say the B18C and drive away without changing my cams and such until i got a turbo 1 year down the road?
Thanks!

just stick with the b18c and forget about ls/vtec if you going FI. Most ls/vtec are fast because of the compression they run. And since you admit yourself your still new to honda engines and their internals then I wouldnt recommend something as complicated as a ls/vtec.. lots of them blow with out proper tuning and maintainance. If your going to boost then just stick with the gsr motor.
Theres no point. The beauty of LS-Vtec is that while youve got the engine torn down you put in some good stuf (Pistons, crank, arp rod bolts etc.) Since building an LS-Vtec invlolves tearing down the block your saving labor over geting a b18c and then trying to mess with the internals. If you want a reliable turbo car, go with the B18c, if you want a screaming all motor monster go with the LS. Personally i would chooose the LSVTEC, just make sure its done right.
