Default ls/vtec questions

I have a 94 acura integra ls with 110k miles on it. I know the car is pretty quick already but i really want to make it faster. I was thinking of getting the engine remanufactured with new pistons and cam. I also want to put a vtec head on the ls block. I was wondering if redoing my engine is worth it or if i should just go for a new engine. IF you could, about how much work is necessary to put a vtec head on the ls block and how much is it? and where can i get it done. please get back to me thanks

basiaclly it will prolly cost you the same for the swap or the rebuild to ls/vtec. the ls vtec will cost a little less and will pull nicer but not as reliable (only if not built right) as the swap.

I was going to put a VTEC head on my LS engine (in my 92 Civic HB) but after talking to a few peple, I came to the conclusion that the risk is too much for my daily driver. Apparently there are oil problems with the head and block matching up. Seperate oil lines must be run and from what I hear, they are prone to possible leaks. I do know some people who have done LSVTEC swaps and have yet to have any problems. But if I'm paying 2500 for an LSVTEC, I'd want to know FOR SURE that there are no problems. My reccomendation is to find someone who does these swaps, find a couple of their customers, and talk to them to see if it was a quality job.

well, from what my sources have told me, to do a correct problem free LSVTEC it will cost ya 5500. no aftermarket parts included. just the re-built swap. but then again, thats if you want to do it right. im sure you could do it cheaper, but these guys know there ****.

Did mine for less than 1500 and have well over 22,000 miles on it. Never had the leak issue with the head and block and so forth, only problem is that I am to lazy to change a damn o2 sensor and an annoying dc header that rubbed on my oil pan, other than that I am as happy as a pig in ****. Not really, but will be when the drag kit comes in.

Just change all of the usual parts when you do a rebuild and since you have 110k I would bore it and go with the oversize bore pistons. Just make sure that who ever does your stuff, knows what they are doing. If corners are cut, they eventually show and with this setup they usually show up sooner than later.
