Default ls/vtec cranks.....

Ok I have been out of this for sometime and now decided to build another *******. What I have noticed is that some people are taking b18b cranks and putting them into gsr blocks insted of doing a b18b with a b16/b18c head. Now what I want to know is why are we going this way insted of the way I am use to? Is it because the b18c block have oil squirters in them and the ls do not? It all seems like a good idea cause in all the rods/pistons are the same size from the b18b to the b18c blocks right? I just know that the rods to the ls are not as strong as the gsr ones but other then that the same size. Any input on this would be great, thanks.

gsr rods are 137.9 mm, ls are 137.0 mm. The rods aren't weaker, they just have a different rod/stroke ratio. But other then that, i have never heard of people using b18c blocks for ls/vtecs, unless you are thinking of the poorman's type R

interesting...i know someone who did the same thing but the other way around...ls block with gsr crank (turbo)...the reason for this he said was because so that he can rev higher and also something like because the rod bolts are longer.

but for your situation, i'm not sure myself. up for some info!

I just figured some one on here knows something about this setup. I live only 20 mins from evans tunning so maybe I will just stop by to see what's up with this setup.
