Default LS to GSR gauge cluster

The sensors are upgraded with the engine so would the speedometer and rpm reflect the difference if you just put some GSR overlay indiglo gauges on the LS gauge cluster? I am trying to figure out if it is really necessary to swap it out other than the mileage obviously....

If you are only swapping for the tach (which is the only difference that I am aware of) then just take the tach out of a gsr cluster. I've done it. It works fine.

I'm trying to not bother with buying a GSR cluster. Wouldn't the needle on the LS tach just show what you send it from the engine sensors and the ECU?

I am thinking of the general idea of just changing the overlay of what is showing on the LS tach with the GSR grid/digits. If the servos in the cluster itself are different, then it definitely won't work.

Anyone else done this?
