Question for those in CA with JDM swaps. Did any of you have problems getting it smog checked? A couple friends have told me that places won't pass jdm engines because they're japan motors and not in their book of motors. Thanks.

From what I have heard generally in Cali a JDM engine cannot pass....
as long as the engine is of the same year or newer and it has proper papers... but even with this i've heard of people not passing
ok from what i was told at the ref, if you use a JDM engine as a replacement engine of the engine you already had in your car (the car is a gsr and you replace it with another JDM gsr engine) its ok. but you cant replace the engine in your car with another JDM engine.

from what i heard, jdm motors can pass as long as they're the same or newer year than the car. also they have to have all usdm smog accessories eg. catalytic converter, stock air box and stuff. You must also show proof that the ECU youre using is for the motor. or you can go to those 150 dollar smog places. j/k
