Does anyone know the motor block code for a JDM Integra Type-R. Is it just a B18C or a B18C-R??? I know there is a JDM GS-R motor with the block code B18C so I thought that maybe the Type-R is different.

 

I think it just says B18C

 

for jdm
its b18c
for usdm its b18c5.

 

..and if its from Europe its B18C6

Actually I dont know if ALL Europe ITRs are B18C6...but I know some are.

 

does anyone know how to tell the different years of JDM ITRs blocks apart (ie and 98 or newer vs a 97 or older)?

I thought there was a manufacture date somewhere?

Any other observable differences on a 98 or newer JDM ITR swap?

 

Well if you are worried about buying a ITR and getting a GSR, just look at the intake manifold. The GSR is upside down. ITR looks like the 99-00 Si.

Also, look at the ecu, there will be a sticker with a P73 in the middle if it's an ITR. P72 for the GSR.

i think if u lookon the head just above the exhaust manifold it is stamped on it...there are several circles and inside them are two numerical digits with a slash between them....ie: 9/4...1994...i think its the far left circle...someone correct me if im wrong thats just what iv heard....dont know how u can tell the block tho

 

I'm not looking to buy a Type-R all I wondered was about the block code. I have a 99 B18C1 in my VX. I know how to tell the difference between the intake manifolds and the head. Just wondered about the block code that's all. So the JDM GS-R and Type-R are both B18C? From what I've read the block is identical to the GS-R but the pistons, head and everything up top is different.

 

Block is not the same. It uses a heavier crank with more counter-weights, different rods, and also has higher compression pisons. The JDM GSR and ITR both say B18C. As for telling year, if you don't have the head, i don't know.
