intake compatability question
thanks, the only difference i can see is that the water port on the d15 is square and its round on the d16y8. but i dont have any water leaks. the problem i'm having is a high idle. the motor is obd1 and ecu is obd2, thats why i'm using the y8 manifold. but there is no knock sensor or crank sensor on the d15 block. do you know if either of those sensors could cause a high idle problem? thanks again.
that will not cause a high idle. (you probably have a leak) But you will have a check engine light if using a obd2 ecu with no knock or crank fluation sensor.
thanks for the info, i picked up an OBD1 ecu, P28 ( no knock or crank sensor). now i'm waiting for the conversion harness i mail ordered. the check engine light i can deal with, but this high idle is starting to drive me crazy. seems like a vacuam leak to me too but i cant find it anywhere. i also had to repin the distributor because obd2 has 1 plug and obd1 has 2 plugs. maybe i did something wrong there? thanks again.
start it up get it to idle then start spraying down all the intake gaskets and hoses, etc. when you spray the leak it will change rpm. don't get to crazy it it because you can catch your car on fire
so keep a bucket of water or something handy and use common sense

yes, i tried that with carb cleaner, coudnt find any leaks. i'll try it again. i'm going to try a new intake gasket too. after it idles high for about 3 or 4 minutes, it tries to idle down but then goes back and forth between 900 rpms and 1800 rpms. makes me think its ecu or sensor related. thanks again.

i know this seems like a dumb question, but i gotta ask....which gasket should i use? the gasket that fits the d15b head, or the gasket for the d16y8 intake manifold? thanks again.
