Default IAT Sensor Question

Real simple question ...

I just picked up a JG Intake manifold for my 00 Civic Si, B16A2, OBD2.

The IAT sensor that came with the car goes in the intake piping. I wanted to relocate the IAT to the intake manifold, seen that the JG has a spot for it. I already ordered an OBD2 IAT from the Acura Dealer.

My question is this: Is it a plug and play? Meaning I can take the new GSR IAT sensor and plug it into my existing wiring harness or do I have to cut and splice certain wires?

Thanks in advance
- Fred

all Honda/Acura IAT sensors are the same as long as they are both OBD1 or OBD2. so, yes its just plug and play. why did you order another sensor?

B/C the JG has the spot for the sensor on the intake manifold, which in my opinion will give a more accurate reading of the air temperature (after being intercooled) versus having the IAT in the intake filter/piping of the turbo before the intercooler.

Does this make sense?

That's not true. The 96-98 Civic's have the IAT mounted in the intake pipe and the engine harness plug and sensor are shaped different (more squared) than the typical round IAT found on the OBD0/OBD1 Civic's and all Integra's.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. i guess it wont be plug and play then. maybe you'll have to get your hands on a GSR IAT connector and replace the stock one with it.

no it doesnt...the iat usually goes up on the intake pipeing near the throttle body..theair temp would be the same..it would be AFTER the intercooler..so no that doesnt make sense

Sorry your wrong, on the B16 Greddy kit the IAT senor WAS in the turbo's intake piping (PRE-INTERCOOLER), thus moving it to anywhere AFTER the IC would warrant a true intake temperature, post intercooler.

and goddamn u would have to extend wiring like a crap load if u r actually right..about the greddy kit placement anyways..but hey..u dont have a drill and a file at home to make a new iat sensor hole??or just...hopeless?

Very slick!good job!I was in a rush to just get my integra running and i was in the same dilemna. So i shoved that sucker into a vacuum hose, started it up...it got rid of the code. And now i have a way to get to work!
