Default Hydro-lock new engine help

I have conducted a search about this but I have a more direct question.

I have an 00' GSR that sucked up some water through my intake and locked the engine. My insurance company gave the go ahead to have it taken apart to assess the damage, granted if there is any damage they are going to cover it. A compression test was done and they found none.

Would it be wiser for me to swap it out with a JMD Type-R engine, or go with the original and add bolt-ons with the extra cash for more power? Thanks for you incite in advance.

Well, if they are giving you the money for a new engine + instalation charges, and you have enough. My decision would be to get a low milage B18c5. But thats just me. You can always get bolt-ons down the road. Is the Insurance company giving you money for what the motor was worth before it hydro-locked? Or giving you the amount of what a Brand new motor would cost?

It would help if you could give us a price range, if you know how much your getting yet.

You live in Valdosta? I got family in Glenwood. Uncle is a cop in Glenwood. Say hi for me. lol

Thank you for your input.

Well I will know my price range once the estimate is complete. I would imagine they are going to give me enough to replace with a new B18C1 plus labor charges. I hope. I will update once they let me know what the damages are and how much they are going to give me.

Who knows they might find a way to get the original engine to run again. But what I got on Team-Integra is that if I couldnt drive away after it happened, the engine is "toasted". And the car stalled half way through the puddle.

And just so everyone doesnt think I am stupid, I was not the driver when this happened.

I got my B16 to run again after hydrolocking. Then it blew a week after.

Update.

The engine is blown. The insurance is coving it, all I have to pay is my deductable. However, I'm staying on the safe side and going with the original B18C1, incase something else should happen down the road, I cant risk it. Thank you for your replies.
