Default How much for engine swap?

Ok, ok, it's not an Integra or Civic. It's not even a new Prelude or Accord.

But I have a '86 Prelude 2.0 SI, and I'm ready for an engine swap.

And I WANT to keep my car. I'm sorry, but there are just WAY too many Integras and Civics out there. I'm looking to make the ultimate sleeper.

I've been told I can fit an Integra GSR motor, 5th Gen Prelude motor, and a 2000 Civic Si motor in my car. I would perfer the GSR, because it would be fun to be able to put a Jackson Supercharger on.

Anyways, what kind of prices am I looking at here, for the engine, and the labor?

Thanks alot guys.

just get a 84-87 JDM b20a DOHC...which puts out 160ps (158hp), these are dirt cheap....save few yourself few g's...plus its so much easier to make it work....plus its only 10hps less then GSR but more torque....also with a FI (turbo)....its got much more friendly c/r to boost it to higher levels....

A b20A, eh?
About how much would that put me back, (with install)?
And what kind of 0-60 times can I expect?
And where would I buy one?
And what's the capital of Madagascar? (haw haw haw)

Thanks!

yeah man....b20a....DOHC 2.0l .....it depends on what type of 'lude you curently have if its a 2.0 si then it should just bolt up without any problems...if its carb then forget about....

0-60 is hard to say but 7.0 sec. range should be easily achivable.....on par with GSR or 92+ SRV/sr ludes.....

check JDM imprters such as found here: http://hybrid.honda-perf.org/links/Parts/

JK japanese
nippon
hasport (talk to them they don't directly sell but know who has what)
...too many to list

7 seconds sounds nice...but I need to be faster!

It looks like the actual "High Performance Japanese B20A 1958cc twin cam EFI" is only $495!!!

Now, with h/i/e, could I get down into the 6.5 second range? (Unfortunatley it's an auto, I DO live in Seattle...ugh...traffic!)

I'm trying to stay away from turbos because of "Turbo Lag", but if there's some sort of turbo that will take me into the 5.5-6 second 0-60 range, I'd buy it for sure.

And I checked out the links, and I couldn't find any site that sells the B20A 1958cc twin cam EFI other than http://www.lisp.com.au/~juric/engines.html#H%20-%20Perf .

And how much do you think a reasonable price would be to install the new JDM motor?

Thanks so much, I really appreciate that you're taking time to help an original old skooler, when everyone else just looks at Teg/Civic posts.
Have some E-Beer!

just make a junk yard turbo setup....as far as turbo lag...only if the turbo is too big to get spooled by the engine....just visit a junk yard pick up a probe gt turbo/intercooler make a custom ehaust manifold....it boost to 7lbs....stock....and you be ready...should improve the power...but most likly will kill the tranny...

so change to 5spd. tarnny...pick up a tranny, shift linkage, pedal assembly + few other small parts to make it work...that should improve it..

also in canada (www.jkjapanesengines.com) has b20a with auto trannies...located in BC or ontario

You make it sound like fabricating a custom exhaust manifold is easy...

if I was to have a older gen prelude.. 2.0si.. and wanted to switch to a better engine.. I'd go with a B20B or B20Z the rod ratio on the b20a engines are so bad that they will burn it self out.. and the good thing about the b20b and b20z engine is that u can actually use all OEM honda B series trannys on them... the b20a engine does not allow u to do that in any way... so get a B20B(97-98)..B20Z(99-00) drop a vtec head on it and then drop a GSR tranny on that precious prelude and there u got yourself a screamer of an engine and a slightly better Rod ratio... I'm sure you have more questions so just keep posting

because the b20a is a piece of crap. that is why honda quit making them they suck. the b20b/z is a way better engine and it will have more after market support.i've heard about b20z's w/gsr or b16a head making 200+hp. i think the b20z has more tq than the b20a and that is what matters huh.esp.here in seattle people cant drive here.
