Default H23??

I have been reading up on the H22 for a while now cause I have been giving serious thought into putting one into my 97 accord ex. I keep on coming across a H23. Is the H23 vtec or does it come vtec and non-vtec? What car does the H23 come out of ? If the H23 has 20 more HP, why doesnt everyone just use that? Is it not swaped alot because of mounts? or price? any links or info would be great.
thanks
ian

Default Re: H23?? (accordianex)

The H23a came out of the 4th Gen Prelude Si's. They are DOHC, but not VTEC. Output is 160hp/~154lbs tq. As for the mounts. it's the same as the H22.

It's a tough block in itself. At 2.3L, it responds to mods pretty well. It has just as much potential as the popular H22. The only advantage I could see is that when you're tuning for higher HP levels, you don't have to run into problems with the VTEC crossover and timing/fuel.
