Default H22 header options in an EF

Posted this ? in the EF section but figured I might get some helpful answers here.

I plan on swapping an H22 into my 90 EF hatch. With Preludes header choices are limited due the nasty crossmember making clearances tight. I know that EG & EK's can have nicer long tube headers because there is more room to work with.

I know that most any header that's fit's a Prelude will work, but I'm wondering if the longer tube headers meant for H22 swapped EG's will also work in an H22 swapped EF (like the RMF for example)? I'm willing to cut a little sheet metal to do it as well as plan on using a half size radiator.

If anyone has any experience or pics of their H22 swapped EF that will help me understand how much room there is I'd appreciate it.

With my motor mount kit I have 7+ inches from the header flange mates to the head to my radiator aftermarket slim fan. I am running a EF radiator. Most to all 4-2-1 headers should work and the rage that k teller sells would fit also i'd imagine. Far as long tubed headers not likely.

You can probably get any header you want because you need a custom crossmember for the H22A swap for the radius rods to fit. You'll want one anyway because it will blow the stock bushings apart (you are almost doubling the HP!!) and it will make for a much cleaner half-rad install if you play your cards right.

I fit a t3/4 turbo, external wastegate and 3" downpipe under the hood of my car with room to spare.

The top half of that manifold pictured is for sale if anyone is interested.. It's a stainless RSR. I didn't get hte bottom half and ended up fabbing the secondaries with a prelude header as a temporary fix; which made the secondaries freakishly short.

Cool, thanks for the info & pics guys. It looks like there will be some room to work with.

Do you know what crossmember is going to provide me with the most clearance? I know explicitspeed sells some, but would like to know what brand is going to provide the most clearance between it & the oil pan?

buy an aftermarket front crossmember made out of tube steel. theyre only 150 to 250 for the a decent one, and they'll usually cure a little bit of wheel hop/stiffen up the front end. i've got a tube crossmember in my ef9 and my dc 4-2-1 header still clears by 3 to 4 inches easy.

Here's a pic of the header I want to fit. Do you think it will work?

Yes looks like it will work. I sell the motor mount kit EF 88-91 Civic/Crx H22A. I also sell traction bar systems and yes a traction bar system is needed and mine are made to clear the H22A in the EF. I am not sure about other CO. far as I know wont work. $325 shipped you can't go wrong
