What ECU are you using?

I have the same fuel pump on my h22, and I've had the same problem. I was running a chipped p28 ecu, and tried out a p13 for the first time a few weeks back. I was still running a little rich, but not even close to as bad as before. My obd1 p13 arrives in a few days .

i am running a p28. the FPR was just getting over pressureized with fuel. so, i took out the pump and put in a stock EX pump. pressure is back to normal.

however, i am having a problem with my CEL. i wired it up and now it is just staying on. when i "plug" it with a paper clip, it does nothing. just stays solid. any ideas?

btw, this motor is in a 96 EK CX.

even with turning the FPR up and down, it stayed at a constant 60psi. so, i removed it, and so far so good. except for running in "safe" mode i guess. i am running rich as hell and the car barely runs. i have to keep it running with the throttle. read above post for problem.

An h22 should be runnin 38-42 psi at idle.....you are running way way way way too much pressure into there. That is your problem. Your cel will be related to an extreme rich condition. Replace your 255 pump back into there and adjust the pressure down to 40 psi and your cel will stop and it will run fine again

New post:

i already replaced it. psi is at 40!!!!!!!! so, the CEL would NOT be due to the richness!!

If you were running at 60 psi at idle yyou will get a rich cel. I got a rich cel (with a walbora 255 and p28 at 44 psi). You can run a 255 pump on a h22 with a p28, Ive done it for quite a while.

If you reset your ecu the code will not blink , the cel light will just stay on. Drive your car for a couple miles and the code will re-appear.

Has you cel always been on, or did this just start recently? A cel that is constantly on and does not show a code could be a bad ecu.

the ecu is good because im able to drive the car. i hard wired the fuel pump to a switch just for temp. purposes. could that possibly be the reason.

Could be, at least sounds like a good place to start.

Do you mean you wired up like a fuel pump kill switch? If so I've done that without throwing any cels. Hows your car running? As far as your cel light staying on without being able to pull a code , I've heard if you harm the jumper by pushing to hard on the input you can either damage the ecu or jumper , but dont quote me on that.

im running a 255 on my h22. I have a custom chipped p28, and a b&M regulator. For the life of me i cant get the fuel pressure to go below 42-44 psi. Im thinking of going down to a walbro 190.

Yeah, I've got a 255 on my h22 too. Also running a chipped p28. I'm running rich as hell, and I've heard that's common with p28's for some reason. I'll be trying out an stock p13 and see if it leans out a little. I'll let you know if it helps. Got to wait til the car is out of the shop first though, damn soccer moms with their suv's and cell phones.
